Following eight years in construction and property development I decided to expand my career into the legal sector by training as a solicitor. I was delighted to secure a training contract with Burges Salmon which was my preferred choice of firm for a number of reasons.

Firstly, it is an outstanding commercial law firm with an excellent reputation, talented individuals, strong values and an impressively diverse client base. These are elements that underpin successful business and I wish to gain exposure to them during my training contract.

Secondly, being a chartered quantity surveyor and project management professional I want to join a firm that values my commercial experience. It was clear from the initial application process, that Burges Salmon is such a firm.

Finally, I believe the six seat approach to the training contract is hugely beneficial for trainees. Even if you know which area of law you wish to eventually practice within, it will provide a great understanding of the legal market and allow opportunities for future business development to be identified. It is also incredibly satisfying to be part of a recruitment process that is consistently ranked amongst the best in the country. I’m really looking forward to beginning my training contract with Burges Salmon.
