One of the most common questions we are asked when advising clients receiving rather more attention from the FSA than they would like is: “how does the FSA calculate its fines?”
In March this year, the FSA published a Policy Statement entitled: “Enforcement Financial Penalties” (PS 10/04)1containing rules designed to answer this very question.

You have suffered as a result of shoddy work by one of your contractors or suppliers. As a result, you want to claim but discover that they have gone under. It quickly becomes apparent from the contractor's financial state that all realistic chances of a recovery from the contractor have disappeared.
