Our Environment team has unrivalled experience of working with industry and government on many issues of chemicals regulation. At Burges Salmon LLP our key chemicals regulations experts have been closely involved with the REACH Regulation through two and a half years negotiation, and have worked with a range of industries, trade associations and several governments on key aspects of the implementation of this and related legislation.

- Preparation and presentation of international Board level and supply chain workshops, presentations and training on REACH and CLP Regulations for variety of international clients in UK, USA, Germany, Belgium.
- Two and a half years close participation in negotiation of the REACH regulation with multinational industries, key trade associations and overseas governments.
- Advice to several multinationals on corporate responses to REACH as Downstream Users, Manufacturers and Importers and on Registration and Authorisation issues such as Substances of Very High Concern.
- Advice to a range of clients - including metals, mining, aerospace, chemicals, industrial, retail, food and other sectors - on risk management in relation to chemicals, in day to day operations and in corporate and property acquisitions.
- Advice to several multinationals across a range of sectors on business risk issues arising from use of SVHCs, such as supply chain management and customer enquiries following inclusion of SVHCs on Candidate List and questions over substitution and use of SVHCs.
- Development of training materials on REACH and CLP for overseas governments and industries.
- Advice to government on the implementation of the Marketing and Use of Chemicals Directive, now part of REACH.
- Drafting documentation on Consortium Agreements, Only Representative Agreements and Third Party Representatives Agreements and advice on data sharing and cost allocation issues.
