Richard graduated from Bristol University with a First class degree in law and completed the Legal Practice Course in Nottingham with Distinction. He joined Burges Salmon in September 1997 and became a Partner in May 2006.
Richard specialises in pensions and incentives law.
Richard is a full member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and holds the Certificate in Pensions Law from the University of Bristol. He regularly speaks at client seminars and bespoke training sessions on pensions and incentives matters. Richard is an adviser with The Pensions Advisory Services (TPAS), and a member of the Share Plan Lawyers group.
Richard's recent work includes:
- advising Western Power Distribution on all of its pension arrangements including the WPD Group of the Electricity Supply Pension Scheme (assets in excess of £1 billion)
- advising the Trustees of the Chanel Limited Pension Plan on documentation issues
- advising the Trustees of the Renishaw Pension Plan in relation to a closure to defined benefit accrual and contingent asset agreements
