Licensing
Our Licensing team deals with the licensing requirements of the leisure industry and advises clients on all issues arising under the Licensing Act 2003 and other licensing regimes.
We have advised clients from the sport, hospitality and music industries including those as diverse as bars, nightclubs, stadia, concert event teams, world heritage sites, railway station operators and military installations. We also act for private individuals.
Examples of areas we advise on include:
- premises licences and club premises certificates – applications, reviews and objections
- personal licences
- street trading
- vehicle operating licenses
- noise control issues
- PRS/PPL licences
- music law
- regulatory issues affecting leisure premises, sports stadia and racecourses
- Security Industry Authority requirements
- large outdoor events and event contracts
- strategic advice on commercial opportunities
We are members of and work with the Institute of Licensing, National Outdoor Events Association, Association of Festival Organisers and Football Safety Officers' Association.
We often speak at conferences and events and can provide tailored training on the licensing issues that particularly affect you.
The team understands the value of good working relationships between operators, statutory authorities and the general public. Where it is possible to obtain a client's desired outcome without straining these relationships we endeavour to do this. We believe this pragmatic and results-driven approach has stood us in good stead when working with the authorities on large-scale outdoor events and other Safety Advisory Groups.
