Chambers UK 2012 - leading individual

Helen joined Burges Salmon as a trainee in 1993, qualifying in 1995 and becoming a Partner in 2001.

Helen has been Head of Intellectual Property for 10 years and acts for a broad range of clients, in both the public and private sectors.

Helen's experience includes:

  • Advising The Carbon Trust on IP issues within its Research Accelerator Projects for Algae Biofuels and Pyrolysis, and in relation to brand protection and the operation of its footprinting scheme internationally (including drafting the complex Regulations for the UK Certification Mark, which governed how the Carbon Reduction Label would be used).
  • Acting for The University of Bristol on the IP development and sharing arrangements with members in the new Composites Centre.
  • Advising The Racecourse Association on the restructuring of the ownership and operation of the high-profile database of pre-race data which is core to the racing industry, advising the RCA (one of the industry bodies which co-owned the JV company to which the Database was transferred) in relation to the commercial arrangements relating to the ongoing operation of that database.

Within Burges Salmon, Helen sits on the Firm's Management Committee.
