Emily joined Burges Salmon as a trainee solicitor in September 2001 and qualified as a solicitor in September 2003, specialising in Employment Law. She advises employers and employees in both the public and private sectors on contentious and non-contentious matters.
Emily handles a range of work including:

provision of and advice on contractual and policy documentation |
 |
negotiation of severance packages and compromise agreements |
 |
advising on reorganisations and restructuring |
 |
advising on collective and trade union issues |
 |
advising on employment aspects of both corporate and commercial transactions, including advising on various aspects, both legal and practical, of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981/ 2006 (TUPE) |
 |
advising on general employment matters including unfair dismissal; wrongful dismissal; redundancy; disciplinary matters (including misconduct and poor performance); discrimination; and ill-health |
 |
presenting training, including seminars and workshops on various aspects of employment law to clients |
 |
dealing with tribunals and conducting tribunal advocacy (both at employment tribunal and employment appeal tribunal level) |
Emily also completed a four month secondment at Computershare Investor Services PLC in 2003, assisting the in-house legal team with a variety of commercial and employment issues.
