Planning and Compulsory Purchase

Our Planning Unit is led by partners Patrick Robinson and Gary Soloman and advises clients on planning issues in relation to properties which they are seeking to develop or to acquire.  Many members of the Unit are also ex local authority lawyers and they are therefore well versed in matters affecting local government and can advise both public and private sector clients on local authority practice and procedures.

We have particular expertise in:

  • Planning applications including Environmental Impact Assessment;
  • Drafting and negotiating Planning Obligations and other Infrastructure Agreements;
  • Planning appeals, including appearing as advocates at public inquiry;
  • Interpretation of planning permissions and advice on safeguarding consents;
  • Judicial Review and Statutory Appeals;
  • Site Assembly including Compulsory Purchase;
  • Town and Village Green/common land applications;
  • Highways and Public Rights of Way; and
  • Advice on local authority issues.

We have experience in a number of sectors including regeneration, housing, retail, leisure, waste, energy, minerals, telecoms, transport and the nuclear industry.  Our work is both private and public sector based.  Examples of projects can be seen in the experience section.
