Nuclear Experience

Energy White Paper

We are currently advising extensively on issues connected with new build. Please contact us for further details.

International

One of our key areas of experience is on connection with the application of international nuclear laws. We have experience of applying IAGA laws and standards and can advise foreign governments seeking to introduce new nuclear legal regimes.

Nuclear Decommissioning Authority

We are on one of its panel law firms following a successful tender in 2005. In 2007 we were appointed to their projects panel, to advise on the Magnox South Project.

Ministry of Defence

We advised the MoD on the re-contracting of the Atomic Weapons Establishment – a £2.5 billion value contract.  This included advice in the tender stages through to the final award of the contract and the establishment of a new consent under the Radioactive Substances Act 1993.  Many of the corporate structures employed there are instructive to other contracts in the nuclear sector.

Imperial College London

We are advising Imperial College on the potential decommissioning of their Consort reactor.

International Nuclear Lawyers Association

Ian Salter has been a member since 1998 and spoke at their 2005 conference in Portoroz. Burges Salmon was also a major sponsor of the 2007 conference, where Ian was also a speaker.

Site Licence Companies

We advise several SLCs on operational issues on their sites.

Healthcare Sector

We advise several companies in this sector in connection with its use of radioactive substances.
