Corporate Responsibility
As a professional services business, our people are our greatest asset. As one of Bristol’s largest employers we are committed to supporting our local community by working in partnership with a variety of educational, cultural and third sector organisations.
We focus on providing community support through:
Pro bono legal services
Free or reduced cost legal services to those who are unable to pay and are themselves providing community benefits.
Charitable giving
Financial support to community organisations
In kind support
Making our facilities available at no cost and recycling furniture and equipment to deserving causes.
Trusteeships and volunteering
The donation of time and non-legal expertise to the community through the assumption of management posts and voluntary activities.
Work experience – Bright Sparks Programme
Each year we provide work experience placements for students in Year 10 or above and welcome applications from a wide range of schools.
We are a member of PRIME, the work experience commitment from the legal profession. PRIME was established through the collective view that an industry standard was required to ensure fair access to quality work experience for school-age students across the UK.
By signing up to PRIME, we are committed to provide work experience placements for students from less advantaged backgrounds to find out how the legal profession works. Students will not only observe the role of lawyers, but also gain insight into other functions like Finance, IT, Human Resources, Marketing and Business Development, highlighting just how many different career paths are available. The initiative will be evaluated on an annual basis to ensure all participating firms are fulfilling their commitment. More details can be found on the PRIME website.
Law information days
Each year we organise Law Information days to provide GCSE and A level students who have an interest in law with an insight into a career in the profession. The sessions include talks from a trainee solicitor, a partner in the firm and a barrister, plus group exercises and advice on the application and recruitment process.
2013 dates for Law Information days have now closed. Dates for 2014 will be announced at the beginning of next year.
